USCIS Announces Completing H-1B Lottery for Fiscal Year 2017

On April 12, 2016, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (“USCIS”) announced it had received greater than 236,000 H-1B petitions susceptible to the quota for fiscal year 2017 (i.e., 65,000 for normal H-1B petitions, plus another 20,000 for individuals with advanced levels from U.S. universities) which had completed the random buying process for that H-1B lottery. Electronic receipts are now being sent for cases filed via premium processing, and paper receipts ought to be sent for that other selected cases within 30-45 days. The USCIS also announced that it’ll begin adjudicating premium processing cases which were selected within the H-1B lottery, no after May 16, 2016.
